For our first event we were invited by Ringwood Rotary Club’ to perform at their ‘Cream Tea Event’ for their senior guests. This private performance took place under a beautiful blue sky on the parched grass of Greyfriars. Here the audience enjoyed their refreshments whilst listening to a lively selection of popular marches, film music (the James Bond medley was a particular favourite) & Mozart!
Luckily, the 24 strong band were also treated to a cream tea in a wonderful air-conditioned room. This was much appreciated & was topped by a generous donation to the R&B funds.
Later in July, we were entertaining shoppers & onlookers as part of the 800th anniversary of the Ringwood Market Charter. Here, in the Furlong Centre, we were grateful for the shade provided by one of the large trees. It was a lovely atmosphere & the ever-changing audience in the cafes; retailers & shoppers were very appreciative of the musical selection on offer. So much so, we’ve been invited back to perform, and add to the festive atmosphere, on 13th December.
August saw the band performing on the sun-scorched field at the annual Burley show, thankfully under a large gazebo provided by our very organised, and considerate, hosts. Despite the strong sunshine, the large crowd had come prepared to enjoy the entertainment, stalls & side shows which included Cliff & Wilma’s 1961 Austin A55 mk2 car. The band’s appreciative audience particularly enjoyed the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ which had both old & young bouncing to the beat.
So, the band now looks forward to a cooler season of Artisan markets, a selection of festive gigs, and of course, our 6th December concert at Trinity United Church.
We hope to see you there!
